MET
COLLEGE (OF GUYANA) ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
The MET
College of Guyana Alumni Association (Canada) is based in
Toronto and was formally established on November 12, 2000. Our
first reunion, which was sponsored by the METC fraternity in
New York in 1998, sparked the idea of the formation of a
Canadian Alumni Association. Since that first get-together,
alumni from all over the world met in Toronto in 1999. The New
Yorkers were our hosts again in May 2003.
Our
Alumni Association is intended to re-connect with students and
faculty of the former Muslim Education Trust College of Guyana
(METC), now a government operated facility called Brickdam
Secondary School. One of our main objectives is to bring
together the METC family wherever we are, and establish again
the binding ties created between classmates and teachers a
long time ago. We are certain that the exchange of information
and ideas through this medium will be of immense benefit to us
and the communities in which we now live.
Take
a journey through the website and find out more about us ---
and yourselves. Check our social and fund-raising events and
our ever-growing alumni roster, while accessing
information on your schoolmates and teachers. Visit the
“Humour and Confessions” page. Perhaps you may be
persuaded to “tell it all” and rekindle the flame that
still flickers in your imagination.
We
encourage everyone to join the active membership in Canada and
through our combined efforts, allow the MET College Alumni
Association to be an integral and happy part of our lives.
Together, let us make the Association’s mission statement a
lasting reality:
“The
purpose of the Association shall be to foster a spirit of
loyalty, unity and fraternity among the graduates, former
students and staff of the Muslim Education Trust College of
Guyana, to use its influence, expertise and resources for the
benefit of all members, and to support charitable causes that
reflect the profile of its members.”
Our aim
is to provide fun and enjoyment for everyone who uses the
website. However, as you navigate, it may revive dormant
memories of a time gone by when we were youngsters with many
dreams, in a world with many promises. Here is an opportunity
to come together again and reminisce about the way we were.
